My name is Michael Crutchfield and I have a deep passion for illustration, design, creating great work with great people. I love gatherings with good friends, mixed martial arts, and a smooth glass of happiness. I also look forward to “new comic Wednesdays”... seriously!

I’ve always loved problem solving and many aspects of visual communication, which attracted me since I was a small child. The emotions that images can trigger, prompting reactions and creating ideas, breathing life into their expressions and experiences, has been the fuel of my passion since, well, since ever.

 

Over the years, I've used my passion to help build billion dollar brands (P&G, Walmart, Coca-Cola, Disney, Wendy’s among others) and grew a small agency of 18 people into a global presence with 17 offices worldwide. Teaching Illustration and cartooning at my alma mater, Oklahoma State University, Institute of Technology, was definintely one of my favorite experiences in the past, as I was teaching others how I always wanted to be taught.

I've always been enamored with many aspects of art and the stories they can tell. Which is why expressing myself in different mediums captured my imagination at an early age. I completed high school art in the 6th grade, and later graduated from Oklahoma State University, Institute of Technology with a degree in Visual Communications. After beginning my career in broadcasting with ABC-TV, I soon gravitated towards both the advertising agency and brand sides, I spent years refining my craft in creating unique experiences through the impact of conceptual design. 

In 1998 I joined ThompsonMurray, a small agency in Northwest Arkansas. Comprised of only 18 people at the time, we became part of the pioneering team that helped develop shopper marketing with Procter & Gamble, Walmart and SAM’S Club Customer  teams. We rapidly grew into a global presence of 17 offices in a handful of years, and in 2004, we were acquired by Saatchi & Saatchi to become their shopper marketing agency, Saatchi & Saatchi X. During my 17.5 years there, I held positions as Creative Director and Design Director of North America.

I search for inspiration wherever I can, share inspiration online, and I'm a sucker for a puppy - no matter the breed.
